Friendship

by Johanne James

Hello! Johanne James here.

Today I would like to talk about friendship.

It is said that you can count your true friends on the fingers of one hand. Friends beside you and friends to guide you. Some you tell your most intimate secrets, thoughts and fears and others you don’t. People you keep at a respectable distance and others you let in. I imagine they are what you would call, acquaintances. It is also said, hold your friends close and your enemies closer, and your worst enemy could be your best friend. What do you call a friend who’s an enemy? A Frenemy! There are those whom you don’t see for many years and the moment you meet you carry on from where you left off. It’s as though time hasn’t passed between you at all, and that is truly wonderful. People come and go in and out of our lives, some you welcome and others you banish. You’ll soon find out who your mates are when you need them most … is that true?
Can members of the opposite sex be friends without wanting anything more from one another? We are social animals by nature and we need to interact, swap, exchange and bounce ideas, laugh, cry and generally try and get along. I have been very lucky to maintain friendships from my days at school some uncountable number of years later. They are level headed, honest, loyal and very generous, supportive and would come running at the drop of a hat. How cool is that? In closing I would like to say that we have the ability to make either a positive or negative impact on those around us, and the choice is ours alone. Remember we are here for a good time, not a long time.

Peace my friends.
