I have been a fan of music for as long as I can remember. Growing up in rural North Carolina, my family listened to a lot of classic country, so my first introduction to music was from artists like Charlie Daniels, Hank Jr., and Alabama. Around the age of 12, I discovered bands like Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, and Iron Maiden, and this type of rock’n’roll became my new obsession. Soon after, at age 13, my family moved to California, and my eyes and ears were wide open to an entire new world of music.
As a teenager, I was a fan of anything that was over the top, rebellious, and against the grain of mainstream society. It didn’t matter if the bands were glam like Poison with the big hair and makeup, or metal like Slayer with the satanic imagery. If it made parents and teachers say “WTF is this?” then I probably liked it. After attending my first concert (“Day on the Green” festival in Oakland, CA with Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Poison, and Jetboy) I knew right then and there what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. As soon as I got home, I started begging my mom for a guitar, and since that day, I have devoted pretty much all of my life to playing music.
Since my teens I have played in several rock bands from North Carolina, Georgia, and California. A few of my prior bands had some regional success, and over the years I have had the opportunity to open for and tour with artists such as Paul Stanley, Queensryche, Skid Row, Buckcherry, Nashville Pussy, Kings X, Fu Manchu, Cinderella, Powerman 5K, and Maroon 5 to name a few. Currently I play bass for the band Kickin Valentina based in Atlanta, GA. Our new album 'Super Atomic' was recently released on the Danish label Mighty Music with worldwide distribution, and we have been actively touring. Aside from playing music, I am still a rock’n’roll fan, and regularly keep up with my favorite bands that are still around while searching for new music by up and coming artists in the underground.
