Review | Edenbridge – Set The Dark On Fire

The Austrian band Edenbridge have just released their 12^th studio album called ‘Set The Dark On Fire’. And after a couple of spins I must say that this is a great album! ‘Set The Dark On Fire’ is Edenbridge’s heaviest by far. It features impressive powerful guitar riffs, expansive guitar solos, wonderful orchestral arrangements, and excellent vocals by Sabine Edelsbacher. The result is a top-notch symphonic metal album!

MELODIC HIGHLIGHT

Opener ,,The Ghostship Diaries” is a very versatile and diverse track, setting the tone for the rest of the album. Follow up ,,Cosmic Embrace” is an emotive single with a soaring chorus and orchestral textures galore. ,,Where The Wild Things Are’ features a couple of folk influences, creating an almost Irish musical atmosphere. ,,Tears Of The Prophets” is a piano driven melodic highlight.

The title track of Edenbridge’s new album is probably the fastest and most aggressive track they have ever composed and recorded. Follow up ballad ,,Bonded By The Light” is more cinematic and again filled with lots of atmosphere.

EDENBRIDGE – THE CONCLUSION

However, Edenbridge saves the best for last. The epic ,,Spark Of The Everflame” (divided in four parts), is the absolute musical gem of this album. It clocks in over 13 minutes and is an Edenbridge roller coaster with all the musical ingredients that make out the music of this Austrian band. Check it out and be hooked!
