Review | Gluecifer – Same Drug New High

Steamhammer / SPV

Does anyone remember the Norwegian punk rock/rock and roll band Gluecifer? Quite honestly, I cannot, as these guys released their previous album twenty-two years ago….

Now, Gluecifer has just released their sixth studio album called ‘Same Drug New High’, featuring eleven brand new songs. Gluecifer consists of founding members Biff Malibu (vocals) and Captain Poon (guitar), plus longstanding bandmates Raldo Useless (guitar), Danny Young (drums) and Peter Larsson (bass guitar) and their music is 100% pure rock and roll/punk rock.

ENERGY FUSED SONGS

So, this means energy fused songs galore, which are great to be played and heard in the flesh indeed! The lead single of the album called ,,Idiot” is a song that says it all, being a fusion of rock, punk, and glam rock; a track that hits you in the face for 100%!

GLUECIFER – THE CONCLUSION

The other ten tracks on ‘Same Drug, New High’ are in fact nearly the same as the opening song; meaning that there is almost no diversity whatsoever. But if you like this, rather simple, up tempo energetic music then you are in for a treat, as this new Gluecifer album sounds like they have never been away!

‘Same Drug, New High’ is a pure garbage rock and roll come back album of a no-nonsense band for sure!

 Play it LOUD!!

Release date: 16 January 2026
