Review | Michael Monroe – Outerstellar

Silver Lining Music

Solo album #13 for the one and only Michael Monroe. The man who is forever intertwined with the history of his former band Hanoi Rocks. ‘Outerstellar’ is an album brimming with punk-driven sleazy hard rock songs.

The man himself is something of a legend in Finland, but let’s be honest, it’s pretty clear by now what kind of music he brings to the world as a solo artist. And that’s not a bad thing at all, because you know what you’re going to get even before you even hear it.

STICK IN YOUR HEAD

His musical path has not really taken a different direction. Michael‘s fans will be delighted to hear this catchy album. With songs that stick in your head after just one listen, and where you can even hum along to the catchy choruses by the end of the song.

A song like ,,When The Apocalypse Comes’’ even gives you a bit of a singer-songwriter vibe. It’s a song that’s a bit more accessible. You could even call it radio-friendly.

It is commendable that he continues to produce new albums at a steady pace. And in terms of sound, ‘Outerstellar’ is an fine record. The production is good and easy on the ears.

MICHAEL MONROE – THE CONCLUSION

Will ‘Outerstellar’ shock or conquer the world? I don’t think so, but it’s simply a pleasant album to listen to, which will definitely appeal to Monroe’s fan base. Delightful compact songs, some with a punk feel, such as ,,Newtro Bombs’’, and others with more of a hard rock vibe, such as the album’s first single, ,,Rockin’ Horse’’.

In any case, there is another good reason to go on tour, and I think this man is at his best when he can feel the energy of the stage.

‘Outerstellar’ is a good album, and Michael Monroe’s history has just gained a new chapter of 12 brand new songs.
