Review | More – Destructor
Warhead Music LLP
More is an English heavy metal band founded in 1979 during the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) in the late seventies and early eighties. More recorded two albums, `Warhead’ (1981), and `Blood And Thunder’ (1982), toured with Iron Maiden on their Killers Tour and played at the legendary Monsters Of Rock Festival at Donington Park.
ABOUT THE NEW ALBUM
Now, forty-six years later More surprises the hard rock/metal world with a comeback album, called ‘Destructor,’ an album that was recorded years ago already. More’s current line up consists of: Mike Freeland (vocals), Peter Welsh (guitar), Bazz Nicholls (bass) and Steve Rix (drums) and their new, third full-length album contains ten tracks. Destructor’ is the last album Chris Tsangarides produced and the mix was finished just before his death on 6 January 2018.
,,Hearts On Fire” is the opening track and it is a 100% pure More track indeed, featuring their typical musical characteristics like: tight drumming, economic, but remarkably effective guitar solos and a shout along chorus for sure! The title track is a real hard rock banger, while ,,New World’ is extremely powerful and catchy. ,,Immortal” could turn into a live staple for More as it features a fist raising, very addictive chorus.
MORE – THE CONCLUSION
Highlight of ‘Destructor’ is the impressive track ,,Wolf Behind Your Eyes”, as this song highlights what More is all about; melodic heavy rock with lots of balls and great guitar hooks and instrumental passages, so play it LOUD indeed.
Sad, but true, More’s new album also contains a complete and utter, weak filler; just check out the cheesy and corny song ,,My Obsession” and you will agree with me that you must skip that song to really enjoy More’s come back album!
Listening tip: ,,Immortal”
