Review | Rob Zombie – The Great Satan
Nuclear Blast Records
Rob Zombie is back with his eighth studio album and this time the title is rather short, namely: ‘The Great Satan’. Furthermore, I can say that not only the album title is short, but also the songs on Zombie’s new album are all under the four-minute mark… ‘The Great Satan’ features fifteen new horror metal/hard rock tracks of which three (,,Who Am I’’ (0:34), ,,Welcome To The Electric Age” (0:54) and ,,Grave Discontent” (1:00) are – at least in my humble opinion – sheer 100% no-nonsense fillers!
ALICE COOPER
So, that leaves us with twelve tracks, which are a mix of punk, heavy rock and metal, of which three tracks have already been released as a single, namely: ,,Punks And Demons”, ,,Heathen Days” and ,,(I’m A) Rock ‘N Roller”, which are all typical Zombie tracks, as they are very energetic, punk-infused metal/rock tracks.
‘The Great Satan’ opens with a terrific horror metal song called ,,Fuck The World 84”, a classic Zombie song, so play it LOUD and shout along! Sometimes Zombie’s vocals sound rather like the true master of shock rock, Alice Cooper, but he never reaches the same musical level as good old AC…..
ROB ZOMBIE – THE CONCLUSION
,,Tarantula” is another excellent Zombie rock shocker, but most of the tracks on ‘The Great Satan’ are rather “weird” or way too short to make a good impression on the listener! However, for Zombie die-hard fans, and there are lot of them out there, ‘The Great Satan’ is a must have album!
Play it F…. LOUD and upset your neighbours with Zombie’s horror metal and of course bang and shout along!
Listening tip: ,,Heathen Days”
