Silverthorne is a new power trio consisting of English singer/guitarist Pete Shoulder (Winterville and more recent Sloper, a new band featuring Golden Earring drummer Cesar Zuiderwijk) and the Americans Daniel Spree (bass) and Brian Tichy (drums). Especially Tichy should ring a bell after spells with Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, The Dead Daisies, Whitesnake, Stevie Salas, Pride & Glory and Foreigner, a few of the artists/groups he was part of. Bumping into each other on a quite regular bases, Pete and Brian decided to start a project and got signed by Golden Robot. They decided to start with a five track EP and if the music on this EP is just an example of what this trio is capable of I can only say bring on a complete CD a.s.a.p. please! The band produces an energetic mix of heavy rock and alternative rock touching at moments with bands like Alter Bridge and The Winery Dogs. So it is modern yet classic at moments. Maybe the definitive style of the band has not been determined yet but all the ingredients of a good outfit are already featured on the rockers ,,Movin’’, ,,Black River Rising’’ (that has a nice bluesy feel), the title track, the robust ,,Roll Me Back Again’’ or the more modern sounding rocker ,,Haunted By The Dawn’’. All in all a very pleasant way to get acquainted with a new band that has all the features of becoming a household name in the future.
