Review | Stryper – The Greatest Gift Of All
Frontiers Music srl
Way back in 1985 the reli-hard rock band Stryper released a X-Mas single called ,,Reason For The Season” and now 40 years later Stryper will release a complete X-Mas album, featuring five traditional Christmas songs and five original ones.
X-MAS FLAVOUR
‘The Greatest Gift Of All’ – very corny title by the way – starts with the title track and it features that typical, very recognisable Stryper sound, meaning: heavy riffs, melodic hooks and vocal harmonies, but in this case a certain X-Mas flavour is added.
,,Still The Light” was the first single of this album and it is probably the least Christmassy song of the entire album, while the last two songs – ,,Reason For The Season” and ,,Winter Wonderland” are re-recorded versions of the early years of Stryper, as these two songs can also be found on ‘The Yellow And Black Attack’, re-release of 1986.
STRYPER – THE CONCLUSION
Overall, I would say that this is not really worth listening to, as the album is in fact boring as hell and if you want to hear a really good rock X-mas album, then I would advise you to buy the Trans -Siberian Orchestra X-mas albums, as they are rather excellent indeed.
