JEFF ANGELL’S STATICLAND-Jeff Angell’s Staticland
When I first listened to Jeff Angell‘s brand new album ‘Staticland’, I had a massive flashback. My first thought went straight to the legendary Mad Season, a supergroup from the 90s containing Layne Staley (Alice In Chains), Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Barrett Martin & Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees) and John ”Baker“ Saunders (The Walkabouts). My message here is not to call this a copy of the past but more to describe the fact, that Jeff Angell was able to capture this unique and timeless vibe and magic of this band and bring it into 2016. It‘s not a surprise that he was playing with Barrett Martin in his former band Walking Papers (which by the way you should check out as well). To me, a pure 90s Seattle kid, Jeff Angell’s Staticland is a revelation. Boundless of any musical genres, just pure honesty, passion and magical music. Jeff Angell’s Staticland is the perfect example that timeless music can still be written today despite the fact that the bubblegum industry is only focussing on the flavor of the day. If you don’t care about trends, industry dictatorshit and radio insignificance (which I’m sure you don’t, cause you read our website), you should….no you have to…check out `Jeff Angell’s Staticland’.
