‘Jeopardy Room’ the new album of Nasty Savage marks the triumphant return for the veteran Florida thrash metal band, that was formed in 1983 by ‘Nasty’ Ronnie Galletti. Delivering a potent blend of classic thrash, bursting speed and scattering power, it harkens back to their 1980s heyday while incorporating modern brutality. ‘Jeopardy Room’ clutches perfectly and evokes moshpit memories constantly.
Glinting full-strength power hard hitting metal fused with beefy, burly thrash is what fans can expect. Not seizing to draw from the most brutal, the face melting riffs and ponderous drums shoot into action constantly. The guitar interplay of Dave Orman and Pete Sykes is on par and grips back to their potent classic era. Jim Coker (drums) and new hire Kyle Sokol (bass) Nasty Savage features a dynamic rhythm section that injects spirited groove and dynamics into the mix. Powerful and fierce!
Ronnie Galletti’s distinctive vocal drive immediately fires you back into their classics and remains a love or hate potion for many. His drive and energy however stand tall atop the hard-hitting tempo. Gnarling the title track into action, the song orbits heavy powerful grooves and tenacious drive. Tempo changes, mosh pit memories galore!
PROPER RELEASE
It is a seamless transition from their classic sound to a contemporary heaviness, with doses of progressive techno thrash, modern groove and swing in the middle. ‘Jeopardy Room’ has you reach for the volume to increase the joy, blending Death Angel elements, frenetic Slayer wallop with hard hitting thrash and speed. Almost frantic the band thunders forward with Galletti at the helm, belting out his anger and frustration in thick doses, like on the roaring ,,Schizoid Platform” that hits more technical with hammering thunderous drums and psychotic breaks reminiscent to Toxik.
Standout tracks like ,,Brain Washer” with its immense metallic riffage, meandering solos, and relentless percussion and rolling double bass, embody the classic Nasty Savage sound, while the demo gem ,,Witches Sabbath” finally sees its proper release on ‘Jeopardy Room’.
AN AUTHENTIC OLD SCHOOL SOUND
The acclaimed classic features guest contributions from Obituary members John and Donald Tardy, adding extra punch to an already face-melting tune. ,,Aztec Elegance” showcases the band’s fluid variety and is an instant fan favorite. As will the hard hitting ,,Blood Syndicate” with its fist-pumping galore and daunting tempo shifts, mark my words! More techno and prog than ever the songs display evolution without lacking tradition.
Benefiting from Jim Morris‘s production at Morrisound Recording Studio, the album captures an authentic ‘old school’ sound that enhances the overall brutality and impact of the music. Successfully replicating the signature Nasty Savage style, ‘Jeopardy Room’ maintains authenticity while incorporating modern elements. Delivering a consistently pummeling and engaging listening experience.
NASTY SAVAGE – IN CONCLUSION
It is a strong album linking with the past, but not surpassing their classic early releases like their self-titled debut and ‘Indulgence’ in terms of impact and memorability. Nevertheless ‘Jeopardy Room’ stands as a testament to Nasty Savage’s enduring power and relevance. It offers a satisfying blend of nostalgia and contemporary heaviness that should please long-time fans and newcomers alike. While it may not eclipse their legendary early work, it certainly proves that Nasty Savage can still “rip your face off” and is a solid assault of the neck muscles, making you relentlessly bang your head.
