SAXON-The Re-releases 2018

Denim And Leather-Power & The Glory-Crusader - BMG Records

The second batch of 3 re-releases of classic Saxon albums have just arrived. First of all there is ‘Denim And Leather’ (1981) which had the difficult task to follow up ‘Wheels Of Steel’ and ‘Strong Arm Of The Law’ but succeeded pretty well with timeless songs like ,,Princess Of The Night’’, ,,Never Surrender’’, ,,And The Bands Played On’’ and the metal anthem ,,Denim And Leather’’. The bonus material consists of songs live recorded during the ‘Denim And Leather Tour 1981’, a ,,20,000 Ft’’ remix and ,,Bap Shoo Ap’’ (live at Castle Donington 1980) and it was the last album in the classic line-up with drummer Pete Gill.

The next album is ‘Power & The Glory’ (1983) with classic tracks ,,Power And The Glory’’ and the epic ,,The Eagle Has Landed’’. The album sees the debut of Nigel Glockler who came from wave band Toyah. Bonus material comes from the Kaley Studio Demo’s 1982 and the album recording sessions with Jeff Glixman (the album is produced by Nigel Thomas). The album was also their last one for Carrere Records before they signed with EMI. Last but not least we have ‘Crusader’ (1984). The course on this album went into a slightly more ‘commercial’ direction and sold over 2 million copies. Bonus material on this album are demos made for ‘Crusader’, again in the Kaley Studio, in September 1983. All albums also include the original lyrics, rare photos and memorabilia. The trip down memory lane is far from over because the next batch is on its way soon (end of July).
