Review | SLASH Ft. MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS–Living The Dream

Roadrunner Records

I always loved Slash’s guitar playing, especially his catchy riffs/hooks and his melodic guitar solos. As for the vocals in his band, he has the perfect singer in Myles Kennedy and so this third studio album with Kennedy and the Conspirators comes highly recommended for lovers of “catchy” melodic hard rock. Slash and Kennedy are both in top form and the album kicks off with the excellent “Call Of The Wild”, a rather compact, no nonsense in your face rocker that sets the tone for the rest of ‘Living The Dream’. ,,Sugar Cane” and ,,Read Between The Lines” also contain some of the best guitar riffs ever and Kennedy’s voice is second to none.

Also worth checking out is the raw sounding track ,,Slow Grind” with memorable lyrics and the last one of the album called ,,Boulevard Of Broken Dreams”, which even sounds a bit nostalgic! The contribution of the Conspirators, being Todd Kerns (bass guitar), Brent Fitz (drums) and Frank Sidoris (guitar) is also worth mentioning, as they colour the songs almost to perfection. This album is a must for Slash and Kennedy fans and for fans of compact rock tracks with irresistible grooves and guitar melodies. Listening tip and highlight of the album: ,,The Great Pretender’’.
