SONIC SYNDICATE-Confessions
Despotz Records
It’s been a while since I listened to a Sonic Syndicate album. I can’t explain why, but this band just somehow slipped out of my focus. Of course like everyone else, I had a big crush on former bass player Karin Axelsson 😉 Now that she left, or maybe because I didn’t follow the band anymore, I don’t recognize anymore what I had in mind. The harsh vocals are long gone and it more turned into party metal. A lot of keyboards, still heavy guitars though, but with a much more pop appeal. It doesn’t mean that this is a bad thing, I’m sure they will definitely sell more music with this style as they opened up to a wider range of fans. It’s just not what I would think of hearing Sonic Syndicate. A lot of electronica is mixed into the songs that sound extremely poppy. Rather a rock band than a heavy metal band as they were in the past. Somehow the band must have listened a lot to the music of 30 Seconds To Mars and Bring Me The Horizon, because this would explain the song writing of `Confessions’. Or do these guys simply want to confess their crush on pop music and added some rock guitars? It is a very good album to check out though.
