SONS OF TEXAS-Baptized In The Rio Grande
Razor & Tie Records
These five rockers got together in 2013 in the town of McAllen in the glorious state of Texas. So indeed, they are Sons Of Texas. Do not expect an imitation of Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top or Molly Hatchet, although some southern rock influences can be heard on ‘Baptized In The Rio Grande’. Most songs are based on a heavy groove like ,,Nothing King”. The guitarparts that are being provided by Jon Olivares and Jes De Hoyos, have that typical Zakk Wylde feel (,,Texas Trim”, ,,September”). Singer Mark Morales brings home the bacon with his powerful chords and (sometimes) more melodic approach. The first tracks ,,Never Bury The Hatchet” and ,,Pull It And Fire” give the album a flying and dynamic start. Have they been influenced by Pantera and company? Sure sounds like it, but who cares? It sounds awesome, like the whole album does. With their first album Sons Of Texas for sure make a strong statement that hopefully will get them noticed. Check it out!
