WALTER TROUT-We’re All In This Together

Provogue/Mascot Records

Walter Trout’s pervious album called ‘Battle Scars’ was a rather dark album dealing with Trout’s illness. Now that he is fully recovered he has made a completely different album, lyrically speaking, as the new songs on ‘We’re All In This Together’ are all about having fun and you can definitely hear that Trout and his jam friends really had fun recording these songs. Trout says about this album: “After the heaviness and emotional intensity of creating my last studio album, `Battle Scars’, I just wanted to go in the studio and have some fun and jam with some friends. This album is the result.” This new album contains 14 songs and on 13 tracks Trout is joined by a guest musician and one song, ,,Do You Still See Me At All’’, features his son Jon Trout on guitar. This album is a must for guitar lovers, as you can hear guitar solos galore and even some guitar orgasms. ‘We’re All In This Together’ kicks off with the mid-tempo, boogie woogie-like ,,Gonna Hurt Like Hell’’, featuring Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and this track sets the tone for the rest of the album; meaning breath taking guitar solos, riffs and hooks. Other guest musicians like Mike Zito, Robben Ford, Eric Gales, John Louis Walker and Randy Bachman also play some nasty guitar solos but the two definite highlights are the title track and ,,The Sky Is Crying’’. The latter features no one less than Warren Haynes and it is a slow blues track filled with howling and crying guitar solos which transport you into guitar heaven right from the start; love it! The title track features guest musician Joe Bonamassa, one of the best guitar pickers of this century, and his and Trout’s guitar solos in this mid-tempo blues rock track are magical and end this amazing album in a fabulous way. `We’re All In This Together’ is one of Trout’s best albums and one of the best blues rock albums I have heard in a long time and it would have been a “perfect” album if the utterly boring acoustic song ,,Blues For Jimmy T.’’, featuring John Mayall, would not be on it……
