WHITE WIZZARD-Infernal Overdrive

M-Theory Audio

True American Power Metal band White Wizzard finally unveil their long anticipated new album ‘Infernal Overdrive’. Last year band leader and bassist Jon Leon announced the return of classic members, vocalist Wyatt ‘Screaming Demon’ Anderson and guitarist James J. LaRue, to the ranks of White Wizzard, as well as newcomer on drums Dylan Marks. The band have spent much of 2017 crafting their finest offering to date, helmed once again by producer Ralph Patlan (Megadeth, UFO, Flotsam and Jetsam). ‘Infernal Overdrive’ is the band’s fourth full-length, which will be released January 12th on CD and gatefold double vinyl. And I can tell you that this new White Wizzard album Rocks. The influences from various big names in the rock/metal history are flying around in my living room. The title track ,,Infernal Overdrive” begins with a great riff and a hellish scream from Anderson after which the song turns into a sort of ,,Painkiller” from the mighty Judas Priest. The first “Maiden” twin guitars are coming through your speakers by the second track ,,Storm The Shores”. A song which also does remind me to the Dutch power metal band Lord Volture. ,,Chasing Dragons” begins with a Dream Theater kind of intro where after it evolves itself with Iced Earth influences to a White Wizzard classic! That is also the case by the next track ,,Voyage Of The Wolf Raiders” where you can’t listen to without thinking I’ve heard this before. Oh, yeah .. Iron Maiden in there ‘Powerslave’ era. ,,Critical Mass” is another epic song on which Anderson distinguish himself with those high pitched vocals in the direction of King Diamond or Sean Peck from Cage. The last track ,,The Illusion’s Tears” takes eleven plus minutes, with some Rush and Rainbow influences, in which the class of these White Wizzard boys all falls together. It is indeed a mix from the bands mentioned above and the musicianship from these four guys that makes it a great and very listenable album in the beginning of this new year! Well done!!! White Wizzard have announced a handful of special shows in the Southwest to kick off the new release, as well as one in London March 31st which will be part of a planned European tour. Go check them out! I certainly will do that if I have the opportunity.
