Review | Babymetal – Metal Forth
Capitol Records
Babymetal is back, and this time they’re turning the boundaries of heavy metal upside down with `Metal Forth’. This fourth studio album is more than just a collection of new tracks. It’s a manifesto, an explosion of energy, and a bold evolution that proves the band is far from done rewriting the rules of the genre.
THIS IS NO ORDINARY ALBUM
From the very first note of ,,From Me To U”, a collaboration with the mysterious and boundary-pushing Poppy, it becomes clear that `Metal Forth’ is no ordinary metal album. The signature blend of cute vocals and crushing riffs is still present, but this album breathes experimentation. It’s a journey through futuristic sounds, genre-defying collaborations, and epic compositions that continually surprise the listener.
What sets this album apart from its predecessors is the impressive list of guest artists. Electric Callboy brings playful, pumping energy to ,,RATATATA”, while Slaughter to Prevail adds an unprecedented brute force to ,,Song 3“, which is also the third track on the album. Bloodywood brings a cultural twist to ,,Kon! Kon!”, where Japanese and Indian influences merge into a hypnotic rhythm. At first, I couldn’t imagine it would work—but it works astonishingly well! And as if that weren’t enough, Tom Morello contributes his signature guitar work on ,,METALI!!”, a track that feels like a sonic storm.
THIS IS A STATEMENT
This album isn’t just a musical trip—it’s a statement. It proves that Babymetal continues to evolve and that their vision of metal reaches further than ever before. From the heavy, rousing power of ,,My Queen” to the futuristic intensity of ,,Algorism”, `Metal Forth’ challenges the listener to rethink their definition of metal.
`Metal Forth’ marks a significant evolution in the sound and artistic vision of Babymetal. Compared to previous albums like `Babymetal’ (2014), `Metal Resistance’ (2016), and `The Other One’ (2023), this album is a bold step toward a more collaborative and genre-transcending approach. What stands out is how much influence the guest artists have had on the tracks. And that’s definitely not a bad thing. In fact, it’s exciting to see the band coloring outside the lines. Who knows—maybe this direction will be continued on future albums.
BABYMETAL – THE CONCLUSION
Whether you’re a seasoned metalhead or just looking for something to shake up your eardrums and expectations, this album deserves your attention. Hit play, crank up the volume, and get swept away by Babymetal’s new revolution.
